The Guyana Police Force in keeping with its youth empowerment initiative has recently concluded the hosting of its Annual Youth Camp under the theme “Working with Youths through Community Partnership for a Safer and Secure Guyana”.

The camp was held at the Guyana Women’s Leadership Institute at Cove and John, East Coast Demerara, from August 09 to 15, 2015. Some one hundred and thirty two children from the Police Scouts and Youth Groups between the ages of 9 and 15 years participated.

The camp was held by the Police Force in collaboration with the Guyana Association of Women Police and was coordinated by Senior Superintendent Maxine Graham and supervised by Deputy Superintendent Charmaine Stuart.

During the camp the youths were engaged in activities that included life skills training, building self-esteem, interpersonal skills and moral education.

In giving the closing remarks Commissioner of Police Seelall Persaud, DSM, commended the campers on their behavior and the work displayed at the exhibition and encouraged them to be disciplined and to lead productive lives.

The Best Camper was Jusel Duggan, 13 years, of the Bartica Police Youth Group and the Best Scout was Roshanna Greene, 14 years, of the Linden Scouts Group. They were awarded trophies in recognition of their achievement.
