The Guyana Police Force copped the ‘Best Banner’ award in the World Environmental Day Green Walk, which was
hosted by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and led by His Excellency, President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali on Sunday, June 5, 2022.
The walk was held under this year’s global theme ‘Only One Earth’, and the EPA’s theme, ‘Celebrating Only One Earth as One Guyana’. It commenced from the Umana Yana and ended at the National Park tarmac with hundreds of participants from the various ministries, schools in the capital city as well as the Guyana Police Force joining the walk.
The GPF’s team and Scout Groups were led by Deputy Commissioner ‘Operations’ (ag) Mr. Ravindradat Budhram; Commander of Regional Division 4’A’, Assistant Commissioner Simon McBean, and Head of the Force’s Community Relations Department, Superintendent Crystal Robinson.
During the judging segment, the Guyana Police Force copped the 1st prize for ‘Best Banner’ while the Ministry of Home Affairs tied with the Guyana Energy Agency for 3rd place for the ‘Largest Contingent’ award.
The Police Scout Groups that participated in the event were also awarded a special monetary award of G$100,000.
The walk was aimed at emphasizing the importance of caring for our environment, our forest, and animals.
Participants also included the Minister of Home Affairs, Hon. Robeson Benn; Minister of Natural Resources, Hon. Vickram Bharrat, Minister of Housing and Water Hon. Collin Croal, UN Resident Coordinator Ms. Yesim Oruc, Representatives from the EPA, members of the Diplomatic corps, and members of the public.
