The Guyana Police Force (GPF) Strategic Plan 2022–2026 was designed to serve as a roadmap in a continuous effort to deliver effective and efficient law enforcement services that meet the highest professional standards of contemporary policing.

Core Pillars
The plan is built around six strategic pillars that guide all police operations and development:
- Operations: Focusing on intelligence-led policing, crime detection, and enforcement.
- Partnership: Strengthening relationships with communities, NGOs, and the private sector to foster trust.
- Developing Our People: Improving human capacity through specialized training in ICT, tactical studies, and criminal investigation.
- Infrastructure: Modernizing physical facilities and police stations to support contemporary policing practices.
- Performance: Using data and monitoring techniques to deliver efficient and effective police services.
- Professionalism and Accountability: Enhancing ethical standards and transparency, including the mandatory use of body cameras during vehicle stops.
Key Initiatives & Progress
- Modernization Tools: Implementation of drones (“Eye in the Sky” operation), body cameras, and expanded CCTV surveillance.
- Community Engagement: Regular outreaches to address local issues like domestic violence and noise nuisance.
- Capacity Building: Establishing a dedicated Strategic Planning Unit to research emerging trends like cybercrime.
- Crime Reduction: The GPF reported an 18.9% reduction in serious crime and a significant decrease in fatal accidents as a result of these strategic initiatives.
- Future Outlook: Planning is already underway for the next cycle, the 2027–2031 Strategic Plan, to further build on current reforms.
