𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐟𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲

𝟓𝟓-𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫-𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐰𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐦𝐞𝐭

Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred at about 14:15hrs today (Sunday 05th January 2025) on Houston public road, in the vicinity of Rahaman’s Park, involving motorcycle #CH 8290 owned and driven by Brain Paul McKenzie, a 55-year-old resident from Corriverton, Berbice.

The preliminary investigation revealed that (based on a video view), the motorcycle was proceeding West on the southern carriageway of Houston public road at a fast rate. At the time the motorcyclist was not wearing a safety helmet. As the motorcyclist approached Rahaman’s Turn, he proceeded to negotiate a left turn with the same speed and in the process of doing so, lost control of the motorcycle and collided with the metal guard rail in the centre of the road separating the eastern and western carriageways.

As a result of the collision, the motorcyclist was flung into a lamp-post and landed on the road surface where he received injuries about his head and body. The Ambulance service was summoned and the Emergency Medical Technicians later arrived on the scene where the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. Kellman.

The body of the motorcyclist is at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination. Further investigations are ongoing.
