On Saturday, April 12, 2025, Assistant Superintendent Michael Ramdas, Traffic Officer of Regional Division 4B, along with other ranks, met with Mr. Khishan Singh, Chairman of the 4B Road Safety Council, and other council members. The meeting was held to discuss strategies for enhancing road safety throughout the division.
Key matters discussed included:
โข Traffic Signage and Road Markings:
Plans were made for the erection, repainting, and maintenance of road signs such as pedestrian crossings, stop signs, yield signs, no-stopping signs, and school zone indicators across key areas within the division.
โข Speed Control Measures:
Several locations were identified for the installation and refurbishment of speed humps, particularly in school zones, and at busy intersections.
โข Pedestrian Safety:
Emphasis was placed on improving signage and crossings near schools and high-traffic pedestrian areas, including Heroes Highway, Garden of Eden, Diamond, and the East Bank corridor.
โข Public Awareness and Outreach: Outreach initiatives will be undertaken to sensitize the public on safe road usage, appropriate parking practices, and pedestrian safety.
โข Support through Community Involvement:
The Road Safety Council proposed engaging the business community within the district to support the cause through letters and fundraising efforts.
These initiatives aim to generate resources to assist with the implementation of key road safety projects.
