As part of its ongoing efforts to build partnerships, promote unity, and foster inclusivity among residents, the Regional Police Division 4’C’, in collaboration with the Non-Pariel Community Youth Group, hosted a vibrant Duck Curry Competition and Fun Day at the Non-Pariel Community Centre Ground.
The event brought together 14 enthusiastic teams, all competing in a flavorful showdown judged across four categories: Best Decor, Best Put-Together Booth, Best Aroma, and Best Curry. The esteemed panel of judges included:
Mr. Clive Bristol
Dr. Ritesh Tularam
Ms Shevon Jupiter (Superintendent of Police)
The competition was officially launched by Romel Putuall, who briefed the participants on the rules before the firesides were lit and spices began to sizzle. Soon, the rich, mouth-watering aroma of duck curry filled the air, drawing eager attention from onlookers.
As the teams cooked, the grounds buzzed with excitement. Children enjoyed a range of novelty games, including Bag Racing, Lime and Spoon, Tennis Roll and Cokes, and Needle and Thread. A Domino Competition added friendly rivalry for the adults, while the younger ones had a blast with a bouncing castle and a special appearance by Mickey Mouse, much to their delight.
When the curry was ready, judges sampled each dish, evaluating flavor, presentation, and especially the texture of the meat. So impressed was Superintendent Shevon Jupiter with the entries from Terry Construction and Magic Ramnarine that she personally awarded each group $40,000 as a special token of appreciation.
